What Causes Black Stools While Suffering From Hernia?
I have debetes type 2 and a very large ventral hernia bvut the surgeon wants me to loose 20 pounds by September of this year 2016 right now I have a very low fever 100 or 101 that accures in the morning. I have now and have had bleeding into mt stomach they know this but want me to loose the weight my stool for the past month and a half or better has been tar black. I have insurance Medicare and AAPR United Health Care. my Insurace ony covers this one hospital Alvarado Hospital because I only have HMO and the doctor will not treat me because I refuse a drug transfusion. what shall I do. ?
The black stools indicate bleeding from the stomach and this can be a serious and life-threatening condition. I do not think the black stools are much related to the hernia itself. It seems to be a separate condition.
It is important that you have an upper endoscopy to evaluate your upper gastrointestinal tract to locate the bleeding. The doctor will further decide on the needed treatment if he is able to identify the source of bleeding.
Also, if your hemoglobin level is under 8 mg/dl, transfusion is needed as well to prevent you from severe anemia. Also, iron taken intravenously may help boost your iron stores quicker.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
