What Causes Black Vision, Lightheadedness And Loss Of Balance When Exposed To Heat?
Today during marching band we were outside in the heat and I was standing there talking while on break and I noticed my vision disappear and I was real light headed and couldn t keep my balance very well and I took a few steps forward and I fell but I don t remember exactly what happened the second before. I was helped up and taken to shade and water. After that I d get back out there and March and about every 15 min my vision would start to disappear again and I d have to go sit down in the shade
I think you are having lipotymia episodes with a drop in blood pressure. Walking in heat, dehydration and tiredness may be the reason for it. In this case you had to drink lots of fluids and water, elevate your legs above chest level and rest. Continuing the activity is not advisable. There is no special treatment, just avoid these situations and keep hydrated.
Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
