What Causes Bleeding After Intercourse?

My husband and I were having sexual intercourse last night and noticed a good deal of blood afterwards. He had penetrated me deeper than usual. I finished my period a couple days ago. I had stopped bleeding from that. I am still bleeding today, but it is not so much. Should I make an appointment to see a doctor?

I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.

There are several reasons for this postcoital bleeding.
1. lesions on cervix like erosion or polyp
2. Infection - But this is not the reason in your case as you do not have other symptoms like vaginal soreness, itching, discharge etc.
3.. Ovulation bleeding. It could just be ovulation bleeding if this is your ovulation period
4.Rarely it can be due to some serious precancerous conditions on cervix which can be treated.
So it is extremely important that you make an appointment with your doctor for internal examination. This will help in detecting the cause and for treatment.
