What Causes Bleeding After Intercourse?

I have bleeding from my vagina after having intercourse; I was diagnosed with a UTI about a week ago that has stopped being painful and I have started the antibiotics but after sex I was bleeding and it looked a lot more like blood than like menstral flow.

Hi,

There are a few reasons for postcoital bleeding.

1.  Infection in the vagina - you already had UTI and treated for the same, may be a secondary infection. and bacteria is resistant antibiotics you have used.
2. Dryness - can be due to dehydration - take adequate water, poor foreplay during sex or infections can also cause dryness.
3. Forceful sex - can cause injury and bleeding.
4. Benign or malignant polyp- need to meet a gynecologist.

Other causes:

5. Foreign bodies
6. Anatomical abnormalities
7. Bleeding disorders

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
