What Causes Bleeding After Orgasm?

I bled when I had an orgasm. I visited my obgyn the next day. He examined me and did a pelvic ultrasound. He adviced me that there was a slight bleeding from the uterus and that the walls of the vagina were thick. My menses started the next day. How can I avoid the bleeding from occurring next time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
During orgasm, there will be contraction of muscles of pelvis, vagina and uterus. Your history suggests you could have had bleeding because you were nearing to your menstrual periods. Hence, there could all possibility that endometrium could have shed early due to such contractions.
The possibilities are rare that it may happen again. However, in case you experience again during mid cycle or so, you need to be examined clinically and evaluated by means of ultrasound scan of pelvis. Some of the conditions like presence of uterine polyp or cervicitis needs to be ruled out.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
