What Causes Bleeding, Clotting, Discoloration And Cramping After An Abortion?

Hi Doctor, i recently had an arbortion about a month and two weeks ago, since then i was bleeding but i stopped and two weeks ago started bleeding( assumed it was a period) unfortunately since then i have continued to bleed with red bright clots , an orange colour and bad cramps. really worried, gonna go to my GP on monday but kinda curious to know if you might know what the problem is?

Understand your concern
Continuous bleeding after abortion is not normal, you should consult to gynecologist for that. Following are the causes of your problem:
1. Incomplete abortion/retain products: some product of conception fail to expels out and it bleeds continuously. Diagnose by the USG scan and treatment is misoprostol or D & C.
2. Vaginal/pelvic infections: Incomplete abortion increased risk of infection, detect by swab test and treatment is antibiotic course.
3. Ectopic pregnancy: abortion process unable to treat ectopic pegnancy and some part develops continuous. and it produce bleeding. Diagnosis should made by USG and treatment is surgery.
4. Choriocarcinoma : some placental cell convert in to malignant cell by invasion into uterine wall. Diagnosis should made by USG and blood HCG titer. Treatment is chemotherapy plus surgery

Cramping was occur due to some part continuous expels out from uterus. Clots is clotted blood with tissue.
Consult the gynecologist immediately and take proper treatment
