Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Low lying placenta can cause intermittent
bleeding during pregnancy, increases risk of premature delivery.
Normally placenta ascends (in layman's language), & it can migrate upwards & change its position to normal till 18 weeks (I have seen this happening even at 28 weeks). In your case, its just 14 weeks, so there is always a chance that placenta will go to normal position reducing risk to pregnancy.
Regarding precautions to take in case of low lying placenta:
1. Avoid sexual intercourse as it may cause bleeding.
2. Avoid even nipple stimulation of female partner as it can cause uterine contractions & cause bleeding.
3. Rest of precautions of normal pregnancy also apply in your case like: Avoiding strenuous exercise, avoiding lifting heavy weight, taking rest of at least 8 hours (preferably 8+2 hours) in left lateral position, eating balanced diet etc.
Low lying placenta with modern obstetric management should not be very risk for pregnancy & you can stop worrying for that.
Hope this helps you.
You can get back if you have any other concerns.
Regards.
