What Causes Bleeding During Intercourse Despite Normal PAP Smears?

iv just been to the doctors after they sent me a letter to say i had to go for my results from my smear 2 weeks ago. When i got there he said my results have come back from my swabs and they are negative. But because i bleed whilst having intercourse he has referred me to hospital, despite knowing my smear results. What does this mean?
