What Causes Bleeding From Tonsil?

Hey, I have a rather large tonsilith on my right tonsil and I have been trying to dislodge it with my tongue (I can bend it back that far to help prod them out). This one is stubborn and way back, so I used a Q-tip to press on the tonsil to help. It immediately started bleeding. No pain, but wondering why it bled with a light touch.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain as you tried to dislodge the tonsil stone there has been continuous stimulation at the site where tonsil stone is present..
There is also a possibility that you might have injured your tonsil with a q-tip in an attempt to remove the stone or there might be already inflammation present over the tonsil..
Nothing to worry about it, you can consult an Otolarynglogist and get the tonsil stones removed..
You should do warm saline gargles to soothe the tonsils and throat as well as reduce inflammation if any present..
You can also limit the formation of stones by doing warm saline gargles regularly, gargle with 1:1 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water, and limit intake of dairy..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
