What Causes Bleeding Gums?

Hi my 7 year old had a full dental check up at beginning of Jan, and her teeth and gums were fine. since Saturday her gums have been bleeding when she brushes them, not gushing, just a small amount on at her bottom teeth. Any suggestions as to what it is or how to make it stop?
