What Causes Bleeding In The Feet While On Coumadin?
I am on coumadin 10-15 mg daily, also diabetic, came home from work and found sock and shoe full of blood, doctor I am seeing is calling it a diabetic alcur, I check my feet every night before bed, he says coumadin has nothing to do with my situation. Others say it does. what do you think
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Yes, Coumadin can cause bleeding from ulcers. Coumadin is oral blood thinner medicine. It prevents coagulation and hence it prevents stopping of bleeding. So you might need to decrease the dose of Coumadin. So consult your doctor and get done PT (prothrombin time). If PT value is more than standard value then you have to decrease the dose of Coumadin. Also rule out diabetic neuropathy as you are having ulcers. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
