Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. Yes, I have just recently notice bleeding of the gums of my four year old daughter. She had a dental check and cleaning less than six months ago. At this exam she was told she had very good hygiene and oral health. Health wise, she takes an iron supplement, daily vitamins and a healthy balanced diet. She exercises and does not have access to unhealthy foods. I find it concerning. I questioned where I should start with this concern. Thank you
As per your complain the bleeding gums most commonly result from infection in the gums and the condition is known as GINGIVITIS.
Although you have got her scaling done in less than 6 months there are chances that her brushing technique is not correct leading to more plaque and hard calcified deposits known as Calculus deposits present on teeth leading to infection in gums and bleeding.
One other reason can be that if you have noticed the bleeding for the first time it can be due to injury caused by toothbrush during brushing leading to bleeding.
If it was just a slight bleeding and noticed for the first time you need not to be worried as it can be nothing serious.
In case if there are repeated episodes you can consult a Paedodontist and get her evaluated and get treated accordingly.
Hope your query is solved..
