What Causes Bleeding Of Nose After An Injury?

I bumped my head with my horse when I bent down to pick up a treat and she bent down and we came up at the same time. This caused me to get a black eye. However, when I blow my nose periodically I blow out dark colored blood that is kind of mushy. Does that mean I broke my nose?

I have gone through your query regarding bleeding nose after a injury, as you said that you had developed black eye as well. Here I would like to say that blood from eye may also reach to nose via nasolacrimal duct in the same way as tears reaches nose in emotional events. But you had got injury so a thorough examination of nose and one basic investigation i.e. C.T.Scan of nose and paranasal sinuses is must to rule out possibility of fracture in nasal frame work.
