What Causes Bleeding Red Spots On The Chest Along With Abdominal Pain?

Yesterday, I was cutting down some trees when I felt a couple sharp pains on my stomach and chest. I lifted my shirt to look. There were 2 red spots that appeared to be lightly bleeding. Not even enough to drip. With in a couple minutes, those areas began to burn and sting. I looked again and a welt had form at the two spots, with a large red area around the welts. Today, the 2 red dots have disappeared, but the large red area is still there. It is hot to the touch, itchy, and the tissue feels like it is getting hard. At the edge of one of these large red areas, there appears to be a couple small sores developing. These could be from scratching, but I am not sure. I do not know if these came from the thorns on the trees, as we were cutting down both locust trees and hedge trees, or if it could have been a bug bite. We saw multiple types of ant, and a small beetle that were falling from the trees onto us. What should I do? Should I go see my doctor? Would this warrant an ER visit?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of bleeding red spots on the chest along with abdominal pain which seems to be due to allergic reaction leading to dermatitis. It could be due to increased skin sensitivity of getting infected , food poisoning , food allergy or infection of digestive system. I would suggest you to start taking anti allergic medications such as Allegra. You should apply a steroid ointment like cortisone over the rash area for relieving inflammation and itching. Application of calamine lotion will be effective to soothe the skin. Apply cold compresses over itchy rashes. If symptoms still keeps on persisting you should visit dermatologist once and get it examined. You should go for patch test and blood tests and start treatment after proper prescription. Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist . You should maintain proper cleanliness and avoid scratching the bumps to prevent infection.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well soon.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
