What Causes Bleeding With Blood Clots Before Menstruation?

I've been bleeding for almost a week now. And it's not yet my menstruation period. There are lots of blood clots coming out. I underwent a trans vaginal ultrasound, but the doctor sees nothing wrong. But I have not experienced this before so I'm totally worried I might lost lots of blood in me. Is this normal? Please help.
