What Causes Blisters In Genital Area?

For the past few months I have had these 2 blister looking things show up on my private area. They only show up like once or twice a month and they only last about 3 or 4 days and then they go away. But they itch and burn and when my clothes touch it opens them up. Do you know what it is or what it could be?

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Recurrent and self resolving, genital, fluid filled lesions, happening at the very same area and associated with symptoms like burning, itch does suggests a possibility of genital herpes.
Genital herpes is an STD and is acquired by close/ intimate contact with an infected sexual partner.
Diagnosis is fairly obvious by clinical examination.
Lesions in genital herpes are usually fluid filled or are erosion's associated with pain Or burning sensation and are usually self resolving in about 3-5 days.
I suggest you to visit a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis.
In case of doubt your doctor may ask you to take up lab testing which would detect circulating antibodies against herpes virus.
Treatment of a confirmed episode of herpes is with Oral antivirals e.g acylcovir or valacyclovir.
If these sores are indeed herpetic and since they recur very frequently , therefore suppressive treatment with Oral antivirals e.g once daily valacylovir, can be considered.
