What Causes Bloating On Left Side Of The Abdomen?

I have a bloating in the left side of my abdomen just below the waist line. I do a small rubbing technique that I learned from the Chiropractor and then within a day or two I have a bowel movement. I sometimes get rather firm or stiff at that location. Is this something to worry about?

I recommend an ultrasound examination of the region to rule out any abnormalities in the region, including the chance of hernias.
