Hi, I was cleaning my ear with a cotton eat bud after getting water in it and losing my hearing slightly out of that ear. I put the bud quite deep and when I removed it, there was blood of side of it. It has been 15 hours, and I still cannot heat well out of the ear and there is a slight ringing. I am supposed to be taking a long flight tomorrow, is it safe to do so? Please advise.
Thanks for asking in healthcaremagic forum Trauma caused by frequent cleaning of ear with buds/hairpin/any other materials is very common leading to injured tympanic membrane. Tympanic membrane injuries without rupture heals within days and if ruptured takes months to heal. Flight travel can cause pressure changes inside the ear leading to painful ear especially when injured like this. So, please visit your doctor for examination to rule out any tympanic membrane rupture and for medications to prevent infection and further damage to the ear. Mean while keep your clean and dry. All the best.
