What Causes Blocked Ears After Taking Azithromycin Tablets?

i have my ears clogged up after taking azithromycin.Have had a nasty chest cold that wouldn't go away, doc thinks its viral rather than bacterial, but because of the color of my mucus prescribed me Azithromycin tablets (250mg) as a precaution. After taking the first two today my ears have become very noticeably clogged, and my heads now bothering me too. I am debating going through with the rest of the prescription because the effects are so bad. Any information?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
HI, THE EAR CLOGGING MAY BE INCIDENTAL WITH AZITHROMYCIN INTAKE.
your history reveals possible viral infection involving Eustachian tube causing Cattarh so for not allowing air entry into the middle ear behind the nose. you may require symptomatic management with Mucolites, Anti histamine, Anti inflammatory, Nasal Decongestant and Steam Inhalation.
Out of the above advie the Steam inhaltion Twice daily will improve your condition markedly.
