What Causes Blocked Ears?

My ears were blocked so I went to the doctor. They determined that there was wax buildup that had hardened causing a blockage. I was instructed to soften the wax by using mineral oil for a few days. A few hours after using the mineral oil, my ear began draining. A lump of wax slid out followed by some blood. Is that normal? There s no pain at all at this point.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

You have probably pushed some wax back on to the drum causing all these symptoms. Put wax rid ear drops 3 times a day for few days and then get the ears cleaned up by an ENT specialist. Don't try self-cleaning very deep as it can injure the drum.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
General Surgeon
