What Causes Blood Clots In Menstrual Flow?

Hi, my period is normally on 3 days up or down, however this time i started my period 11 days late.im not taking any contraception method. my period is extremely clotty and and i have severe dioreah too? could i have had a miscarriage? i did not do a pregnancy test.
