What Causes Blood Discharge From Rectum?
I m a 67 year old male. Recently, I ve been experiencing a discharge from the rectum that soils my shorts and includes blood some of the time. I don t know it that s from hemorrhoids or if it s internal. Sometimes when I wipe after a bowel movement, the blood continues to appear and takes several swipes to clean up. How serious is this?

The symptoms can probably be related to hemorrhoids. A colonoscopy and a visit to a proctologist is needed to check for other medical conditions that might cause the bleeding. Meanwhile, I suggest using a hemorrhoid cream such as Preparation H. I also suggest to soak in cool water several times a day.
