What Causes Blood Discharge In Ear With Itchy Throat And Dry Cough?

Hi, I was sitting at my desk, not doing anything strenuous, when I went to itch my ear and realized that the inside of my ear (and down in the canal) was filled with dried blood. I have been coughing all day, just an irritating itchy dry cough, but other than that I feel fine. What could cause my ear to do that?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query You have bleeding from ear along with itchy throat and dry cough . Well the symptoms you mention in query occurring probably due to two different reasons :-

- Itchy throat and dry cought probably occur due to acid reflux ( GERD) .

- Bleeding from ear occur due to various reasons like rupture er drum , foreign body , hemorrhagic fevers , otic polyp or tumor ( rare chance ) .

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination and rule out causes like strep throat . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( penicillin or amoxicillin ) along with anti inflammatory or recommend patching of ear rum or surgery . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist . For now keep your ear dry , avoid spicy and heavy food and do warm saline gargles .
