What Causes Blood In Phlegm After A Dental Surgery?
Dear Doctor, My wife went through a Dental surgery and the Dentist removed one wisdom tooth in her upper Jaw. after the next day she started to get blood mixed with phlegm and every time she can taste blood on her throat and she needs to spit it out. Please help.
As per your complain it seems that you have bleeding from the site of tooth extraction as at times slight bleeding can be seen for 3-4 days post extraction..
But in case if there is continuous bleeding from extraction site then it can be due to loss of blood clot from the socket as well as can be due to any clotting defect..
I would suggest you to consult your treating dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you should ask her to bite gently on a piece of cotton by putting it over extraction site and avoid using a straw to suck and also avoid chewing hard foods.. Avoid spitting too much and use gentle pressure to spit..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
