Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband (age 74) has slightly, blood-tinged semen. I noticed it on the sheets. He says he has no pain. He has not seen blood in his urine. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2011. At that time, he chose to have radioactive seeds implanted. He has had no troubles since the surgery. He has had frequent loose bowels(blast-outs) after each meals. He claims it is the soda(won t give it up) During a recent colonoscopy, the physician felt the bathroom issues could possibly be IBS. He has no pain or discomfort...just goes and feels fine. I am wondering if these symptoms are connected to each other and/or to the seeds/cancer/side effects or if something is brewing . I have encouraged him to call the urologist(surgeon for seed implantation) but he is skeptical. Please advise. Thx!
It can also be due other causes such as metastatic prostatic cancer, benign and malignant disorders of seminal vesicles, spermatic cord, and ejaculatory duct system; urogenital infections including sexually transmitted diseases, vascular malformations, drug-induced bleeding disorders and even frequent daily ejaculation over a period of several weeks.
So, I advise him to consult a urologist for thorough evaluation and to find the exact underlying cause of blood in the semen and its treatment accordingly.
Hope this will help. Best regards.

What Causes Blood In Semen?
Hi & Welcome. I appreciate your concern for your beloved husband. Based on the history given your husband is suffering from hematospermia (blood in the semen). Hematospermia is common after the brachytherapy (radioactive seeds implantation) for prostate cancer.
