What Causes Blood In Sputum While Suffering From Lung Infection?

My boyfriend was diagnosed with a respiratory infection Friday night which is fairly common for him. He most recently had a viral lung infection and before had bronchitis. He is now spitting up mild amounts of blood. Should he go to the emergency room or finish his antibiotics before he returns?

Hi welcome to the health care magic

Mild spotting of blood in sputum can occur in acute bronchitis condition....

For that complete antibiotic course for prescribed duration

Avoid excess coughing and straining

Take vitamin C lozenges that is to be chewed four times a day for three days

Avoid excess spicy foods

Drink more water (warm water beneficial)

If amount of blood incensed in sputum then chest x ray and Auscultation needs to be done again

Hope your concern solved

Take care
