Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I've been seeing very small amount of blood whenever I spit out toothpaste after brushing my teeth. The blood isn't exactly dissolved in the spit. And the thing is my gums are perfectly fine. On seeing in the mirror I don't see any blood around my gums or teeth either. There are no ulcers in my mouth either. So, I was wondering what could've been causing this? Also I was diagnosed with gastritis a year back, so maybe the blood is coming from an ulcer in the stomach? Also it only appears when I brush my teeth after waking up from sleep, usually in the mornings. I've been stressing over this for a while now, please help me!
In brief it looks like gum infection or Gingivitis.. Well, blood in sputum when you only brush your teeth is most probably due to gum infection only.. At times vigorous brushing can cause injury to the gums and cause slight bleeding.. It is not appearing to be due to Gastritis as if it would be due to Gastritis then there would be associated with other symptoms and you would see blood otherwise also.. So my suggestion is to consult a Dentist and get evaluated.. If gum infection is the cause then scaling will help filled by gum paint application.. Also learn a proper brushing technique so that you do not hurt your gums while brushing.. Use a soft tooth brush to brush your teeth..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
