Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had blood in my stool this morning. I called my doctor but she says she is referring me to a Gastroenterologist because she thinks its a bleeding hemorrhoid. She failed to tell me what to do about the pain in my stomach and back. Do I just take Ibuprofen? Is it normal for it to hurt like this? Oh and I have a watery brown vaginal discharge. Not a lot. Just about a nickle spot on my pad.
Hemorrhoids do not generally cause abdominal pain and back pain unless you have constipation that is causing all these symptoms (including a bleeding hemorrhage). I would recommend you to take Movicol 2-3 sachets a day to help with soft and easy bowel movements, you may use a procto-synalar cream locally at the anal area twice a day to help with pain and inflammation.
As for the vaginal discharge, this seems unrelated to the bloody stools. If you have a missed period and vaginal discharge you will need an urgent visit with your doctor.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
