What Causes Blood In Stool While Suffering From Acute Gastroenteritis?
i am a 41 years old woman. i have been suffering from acute gastroenteritis since long. soon after taking meal , i have to go bath room more than 4 times in a day. My stool always filled blood some huge amount of clotted blood and i feel acute pain during/ after the process. Now I am taking laxopec [ laxative] and providect tab as per suggestion of physian. please suggest how to overcome my problem.
Hello, I am Dr. Selmani and I read carefully your question. The blood in stool can be from upper gastrointestinal tract ( stomach and bowels) or lower GI part ( rectum). If the origins is from upper part the color of stool is black like coal.If it is from lower part is more the color of blood reddish. Since you have diarrhea ( 4 times a day) i think that the laxative medication you are taking is not a good choice because increases the bowel movement and diarrhea. I suggest that you do a total blood count test to evaluate if you have anemia and see the GI specialist for upper and/ or lower endoscopy.
