What Causes Blood In Stool While Suffering From Pinworms In Children?

My five year old daughter had pinworms about a week ago. It was mild, as it was only my husband who saw a worm in her stool one time - I never saw any. We treated the whole family for pinworms (my husband, my daughter, my 2 1/2 year old son, and me) three days ago. Yesterday and today, my daughter had blood in her stool. She doesn t have any signs or symptoms of anything wrong (no pain, etc.) other than the bloody stood, which is quite dark. There was no blood around her anus when I wiped her bottom after the bowel movement. Could this be related to the de-worming? Should I take her to a doctor about this? Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Worm infestations itself can cause blood in stool. She may also have round worms. It maybe a good idea to test her stool for different types of worms. It may also will be good to take a photo if you see blood in stool again.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
