What Causes Blood In Stool With Abdominal Pain?

I have had excessive blood in my stools for 8 weeks with abdominal pain however now I am starting to be constipated, gain weight and only passing clots. My doctor says my bloods and stool sample are okay and made a non urgent referral for a colonoscopy, possibly is 5-6 weeks time. I am worried about this change. Thank you

Hi welcome to health care magic...

Your doctor is absolutely right...

You are having blood in stool and your stool report and blood report normal, so infective etiology seems very less likely...

Here causes like non infective colitis, polyp, tumour, inflammatory bowel disease etc has to be ruled out....

According to cause further treatment can be guided....

If inflammatory colitis present than steroid given...

For polyp resection is needed. .

You will also given iron tablets..

Advise : So without delay consult gastroenterologist for colonoscopy examination....

Take care
