Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For more than half a year now, I have been noticing blood in my stool. When I went to the doctor the first time, they found that I had a pilonidal cyst. I had surgery a month ago to fix it. For a while it was better, but then recently I ve started to notice blood in my stool again. What concerns me is that the last time I wiped, there was a ridiculous amount of blood on the toilet paper. The paper was absolutely covered. This worries me. I don t feel any pain or cramps though. What could it be?
Thank you for following up. There are different causes of blood : -Haemorrhoid with anal fissure . A small cut or tear in the tissue lining the anus, it looks as chapped lips or a paper cut. Fissures are caused by passing hard stool and can be painful. -Colitis -inflammation of the colon. - Angiodysplasia caused by abnormal blood vessels lead to bleeding. - Peptic ulcers . They are caused by Helicobacter pylori,long-term use or high doses of nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen or steroids can also cause ulcers. -Polyps or cancer. - Esophageal problems. Varicose veins of the esophagus or tears. I suggest - 1.Consult proctologist or your sugeon. 2.Oil enema - 30 ml olive or sunflower oil per rectum before night 5 days. Take care!
