What Causes Blood In The Phlegm Upon Coughing Only In The Morning?

Hello. I m a mom of 3. My only son aged 15, wakes up in the morning and coughs. When he did that, there s no phlegm but only saliva with a tinge of blood. It has been like that for 2 mornings already. When he coughs during the day, there s no blood. Only upon waking up in the morning. Is something wrong with him?
