What Causes Blood In The Stool? What Are The Symptoms Of Hormonal Imbalance?

Twice now i have seen blood in my stool when I go to the bathroom...The doctor told me i have an hormone imbalance so i was wondering if this could be a symptom of hormonal imbalance? I am 23 years old and i am over weight...I do not have any history of terminal illness such as cancer in my family

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for asking on HCM!
The blood in the stool usually is caused by local causes such; Hemorrhoids, intestinal polyps, Crohn disease ect.
Hormone imbalance does not cause directly blood in the stool but may cause constipation that aggravates the hemorrhoids.
So i would advice a careful clinical examination from a physician for hemorrhoids, if it is excluded a colonoscopy would be the next step.
Hope the information will help.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
