I ve been on depo for a couple of months now and I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend like a week ago. After that day, I started bleeding everytime I pee. At first I thought it was my period but it usually only lasts 4 days. It s been a week and 2 days now and I m getting kinda scared.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, I understand your concern. Depo provera is known ti cause intermittent spotting/ irregular or absent periods. But it's not known to cause blood in urine.such bleeding is more likely to be with urine infection/ STD... specially when it begins after unprotected sex. You do not mention about any pain/ burning in urination. Still it's better to go for A gynecologist consultation, internal examination & Urine routine & microscopic examination/ blood test of both sex partners if needful. This will clear the picture about origin of bleeding. * IF it's infection.. both of the sex partners need specific treatment according to doctor's advise( Skin & VD specialist ) * IN case there is nothing in urine.. it's due to a depo injection & does not need any treatment. Thanks.
