What Causes Blood In Urine After Radiation Therapy For Prostate Cancer?

I had prostate cancer in 2008 and received radiation and radioactive pellets injected. I have not had any problems since. 4 weeks ago I started to have extreme amounts of blood and blood clots in urine each and every time I urinated. I had cystoscope on March 30 and nothing was found by Dr. I am puzzled as to what to do!

Hi,

If the cystoscope after hematuria episode was normal (which is not cleared here), the concern of radiation-induced coagulopathy is a major factor for the hematuria.

But if no evaluation is carried out after hematuria, the most common reason must be urinary infection with cystitis (which relates to radiation-induced).

I would like to get all the details in the date wise order along with the reports and current medication lists as a scanned copy in follow up the conversation.

Till that time, drink plenty of liquids and consume cranberry sachets with chewable vitamin C tablets for primary relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
