What Causes Blood In Urine And Pain In The Lower Back?

I have been told I have blood in my urine, (called dr., at 10 am, have not returned my call yet) I just started very mild/faint pain in lower back, above waist on left side. I am also recovering, slowly, from a diverticulitis attack, treated by Cypro & flagel, which was diagnosed by my physician at my yearly physical last Thursday. As this is my 3rd experience with diverticulitis, no CT was done., thanks

Let me ask you a question. Are you a smoker? If not nothing to worry. If yes, there may be something in your bladder that's bleeding.
If you have visited the Gulf region you may be having an infectious disease called Egyptian Bilharziasis. This may cause frank blood in urine.

Otherwise it may be a much simpler [but painful] thing like a Urinary Tract Infection or a Calculus[stone] somewhere in the Urinary tarct.

I hope you found your answer somewhere above.
