What Causes Blood In Urine, During Bowel Movements While Suffering From Kidney Stones?

Hello,I have been experiencing occasional blood in my urine and some discomfort in my lower left abdomen. The blood only seems to appear when I am having a bowl movement and also urinating. it occurs when I push, never when I am standing during normal urination. I do have a history of kidney stones and take potassium citrate 2X a day. Ultra sound and urine test were negative. I am scheduled for t CT scan. I am a 60 year old male.Thank you

Hi, thanks for your question.

The kidney stones are definitely responsible for the bloody urine, bowel movements may cause the stones to push along the ureters and bladder causing the bleeds. In addition to the potassium citrate you are taking, i also advise you drink a lot of water to help flush the stones in the urine.

I hope i have answered your question.

Warm regards.
