What Causes Blood In Urine?

my dad is 80, he was recently diagnosed with a UTI, and has had blood in his urine. the doctor called today and told him to stop the antibiotic, and he was being referred to a urologist. I am concerned. could this be prostrate related? why didn t they tell him why they wanted him to stop the antibiotics?

blood in urine can be beause of infection doctor was treating your father but at ths age men usualy have benign prostate enlagments whch dont cause blood in urine but need urology consult the reason for stopage of antibiotics can be because they want to chk the specificity of bacteria for urine culture maybe i wil advise you to take your dad to urologist and al wil be wel
