What Causes Blood Stained White Vaginal Discharge Post Sex?
Hi,
I had sexual intercourse with my partner 3 days ago and after I noticed an abnormal trace of blood in my secretion (not too much but enough to colour it light brown). I've always had this white thick mucus like but my previous doctor told me that it's simply a "rich vaginal flora" and I probably won't be able to get rid of it till I gave birth. Now I keep having this light orange secretion and it worries me as I've never experienced something like this before. I know I need to see a doctor soon ,but till then, can anyone give me an advice or an opinion on what should I expect and how bad is it? Should I alert my partner? And does anyone know a good not so expensive clinic or a good doctor in London? Any answer would help me a lot, so can you please help? Many thanks in advance, Cristina.

Source of vaginal spotting or blood stained discharge post intercourse is mostly cervix ( the lower part of uterus). Even when cervix is healthy, vigorous sex can cause some bleeding. This mostly occurs when you have vaginal dryness or less vaginal lubrication.
However bleeding from cervix can be because of some abnormality in cervix. In case of cervix abnormality, even gentle sex in presence of enough vaginal lubrication could cause bleeding.
Therefore a blood stained discharge could be a sign of cervix abnormality. If you have never got a pap smear test done previously, You are advised a pap smear to ruleout a cervix problem.
Refer to a gynaecologist.
