What Causes Bloody Discharge After The Abortion?

I had a medical abortion about 5 weeks ago. I'm 24, weigh 165, and am 5'9. The abortion was successful, I had a normal period after, but I still have a slightly bloody discharge and it smells really bad down there. Is this just because I have been bleeding for so long? I basically haven't stopped bleeding all together since the procedure.

Hello dear,I understand your concern.In my opinion continuous bleeding since the procedure might suggest incomplete abortion.And as the bloody discharge is associated with foul smell there might be infection.So I suggest you to meet a gynaecologist and get an ultrasound done to rule out any incomplete abortion.You might also need a course of antibiotics if there is any infection.Nothing to worry.It is good to get an ultrasound done routinely after two weeks of medical abortion to avoid this type of complications.
