What Causes Bluish Black Discoloration At The Base Of The Penis After Injury?

My grandson, age 5, flipped out of his brother s crib without clothes on (he was getting ready for a bath and playing) and cut the base of his penis on the crib somehow. It is bleeding and it is black and blue. He is crying saying it hurts. Should my daughter take him to a clinic and have it looked at? Is there something she should do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The bluish black discoloration at the base of the penis indicates hematoma changes following injury through fall. He must be addressed to nearest medical center for antiseptic dressing, assistance of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs to heal it faster.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
