What Causes Blurred Vision After Exposure To Bright Light?

Have a question about blurred vision after being out in bright light. I have presbyopia (long sighted) and wear access lenses for reading. This morning, I was sitting in my car today reading a book. It was quiet sunny outside the car. After looking up and removing my reading glasses I found my distance vision to be very blurry. My eyes took about 5-10 minutes to adjust back to normal vision. Currently, I feel like I have tired eyes this afternoon not sure if this is a result of the blurred vision this morning? This is not the first time that bright light has had this affect.. What is the possible cause of the blurred vision and subsequent tired eyes?

Ophthalmologist Dr. Shreyas Shah 's  Response
Presbyopia is a condition which causes difficulty in reading smaller prints generally after 40 years of age. This is mainly because of reduced accommodation of the eyes as the muscles (ciliary muscles)responsible for accommodating (adjusting) become weak. Therefore it takes some time for the eye to adapt to change in the system. Tiredness is also because your ciliary muscles fatigue as they have to overcome the accommodative error resulting in asthenopic symptoms like headache, tiredness etc. Nothing to worry about, yours is a common symptoms people face in the middle age. It is better to get your eyes checked thoroughly annually especially if you have diabetes or any other systemic illness.
