What Causes Blurred Vision And Low Blood Pressure After Taking Lisinopril?

Husband has had high blood pressure and just recvd a Rx for Lisinopril yesterday. He took his first pill this morning. Also doctor prescribed a drug for enlarged prostate which he first took this morning. He came home from work saying he has blurry vision. I did a home blood pressure check and the readings are extremely low. 70/44 72/41. Could this be from the meds....or is something else going on?? Called family physician....not in right now. Is this an emergency or should we wait and see if it goes back up and the blurriness stops??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern for your beloved husband.
Incomplete data like age, name of the medication prescribed for his enlarged prostate?
Apparently low BP and blurred vision are caused by medication prescribed for his enlarged prostate.
Since he did not experience the symptoms while taking Lisinopril yesterday so, the medication for enlarged prostate like Prazosin or Alfuzosin can cause a fall in BP due to their additional effects on the blood vessels.
It's not an emergency, ask him to stop taking medication for the enlarged prostate till he seeks consultation with this physician so as to use an alternate but a safer medication for the symptoms of enlarged prostate.

Hope this answers your query.
