Hello, My sister, 80 years old, is experiencing blurry vision and severe sensitivity to light which greatly bothers her eyes. She has been to several specialists, but the cause cannot be found. Do you have any suggestions as to the cause? Thank you, Elaine
Refraction should be done if error detected then it should be corrected. Exclude diabetes and exclude diabetic retinopathy. Fundus examination should be done. If there is lenticular opacity it should be noted. With lenticular opacity, visual acuity should be noted. It may be phacoemulsification is recommended and Iolens may be implanted. With Iol the vision will improve. Cover tests should be done to detect phoria. Anisometropia and Amblyopia to be checked. Presbyopia to be checked and corrected. Photophobia can be due to corneal erosion as computer vision syndrome anti-glare specs can be used and anti-glare screen can be fitted before computer screen. Minimize usage of computer and dry eye can be checked and refresh eye tear drop can be applied in morning at bed time Neosporine eye ointment can be applied. It will prevent dry eyes in daytime. Change the field of vision changing field and look at outside to greenery from window.
Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query.
Take care
