What Causes Blurred Vision While On Irbesartan And Lercanidipine Hydrochloride?

Hi I am on irbesartan 150mg high blood pressure tablets plus 10mg lercanidipine hydrochloride which I believe is a diurectic used in conjunction with these. Since I have been taking these medications I have increased blurred vision. Last month I asked if there was an alternative and my doctor switched me to 4mg candesartan cilexetil which seems to be worse. My question is whether there is a blood pressure medication/combination which does not have or has minimum blurred vision implications?

Hi,

Irbesartan and Candesartan belong to a class of drugs called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) and Lercanidipine is a calcium channel blocker drug. Both these drugs are used to treat hypertension.

Blurred vision can be a serious side effect of all these drugs. It is recommended to change the therapy of hypertension while the patient has side effects like blurred vision.

There are a lot of other drugs classes or specific medications that are used to treat and normalise high blood pressure like diuretics, beta blockers, ACE inhibitor drugs or a combination of them.

Your specific therapy must be done by your local doctor that know all your medical history.

My advice is to consult a certified cardiologist in your are for the right treatment and the follow up of your condition (These things cannot be done online).

Hope this is helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.
