What Causes Body Aches Along With Sore Throat And Night Sweats?

I started getting symptoms on February 13th. It started with a cough from what felt like irritation in my throat. I then lost my voice and now have body aches, sore throat, and at night I get the cold sweats. I do feel a little better today, but still have the sore throat and the aches and pains. Not sure if its just a cold or something more.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have body aches along with sore throat and night sweats . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sinusitis , strep throat , viral pharyngitis and post nasal drip . Sometimes hormonal imbalance can also cause night sweat , you need to take antibiotics to get rid of the infection . Infection and fever is also reason for night sweat , other reasons can also be there like hyperthroidism and hormonal changes . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test , blood test and CT scan to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or antiviral depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestant and expectorant . For now take steam and do warm saline gargles .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Thanks for asking at Healthcare Magic. I read your question and I understand your concern.
Sore throat, body aches and night sweats in highly infectious area like developed countries implies underlying bacterial infection unless proved otherwise.
I would like to advise you to have Throat swab for culture and sensitivity. Do full blood count, ESR and Chest Xray if former investigations were inconclusive.
But before embarking at all these investigations just to throat swab for culture and sensitivity and start the following treatment.
Do regular saline gargles morning and evening.
Take Tylenol for aches and antibiotic like Amoxicillin and anti allergic like cetrizine 10 mg at night. Take rest for at least 24 hours.
Hope it helps best.
Take your best care.
