I feel like I have a fever b it is don t.I have chills even chill bumps,my face is hot to the touch, red blushed,I m feel nauseating.I had a headache earlier so I, checked my blood pressure it was good.Do you have any suggestions what could be going on...thanks Kathy
If you feel hot and chills and your face gets red and blushed and if you are close to menopause, these all may be menopausal symptoms.
If you are a male or a woman with regular periods then very likely this is not the case and you will need to confirm if you have a fever or not.
In this case, you will need to check the temperature under the tongue (avoid measuring the temperature under the tongue 30 minutes within the time that you have drank or eaten something). If your temperature shows 38C or above then you do have a fever. The best time to check your temperature is when you start to feel hot after a chill, as this is the time that the temperature is the highest.
If the fever lasts for less than 3-4 days it is normal, if it is longer than that then you will need to see your doctor.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
