What Causes Body Chills After Insertion Of An LAD Stent?

My son, age 49, had heart attack yesterday, had LAD stent, came home, and could not get warm, hands and feet very cold. Turned up heat, and wrapped in blankets and got better in about an hr. He had an angiogram before the angioplasty. Shock? Reaction?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Cold extremities are usually related to decreased blood or oxygen supply to these areas.

It may indicate that the blood vessels in these areas are not working as they should or it may mean there is a reduced blood count (anaemia) or a reduction in the oxygen concentration in the blood for whatever reason.

In many persons, they may not be a serious cause. If these symptoms recur, it would be best for him to be seen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
