What Causes Body Itching While Suffering From Polymyalgia Rheumatica?

I have been diagnosed with polymalgia rheumatica. Two day ago after a shower my arms and chest were prickly, itchy, burning, and I kept rubbing with a towel. Today I sat down and had the urge to scratch my stomach no upper arms. They turned beet red and nothing stopped the itchy burns feeling. Are these symptoms related to the disease?

You can take drugs like Pheniramine for itching.
